Training
Program Announced “CASA volunteers fill a critical need in our community,” said Amy Miller, executive director of CASA of the Southern Tier. “CASA volunteers are ordinary people who care about kids. They come from all backgrounds. Many work full time. Some are students or retired. Most CASA volunteers work on one case at a time, and no legal expertise is required.” Volunteers follow a child’s case as it moves through Family Court, researching the case to learn everything they can about the child’s special situation. The CASA volunteer then makes recommendations to the judge on what’s best for the child’s future. Schedule Attendance at all sessions is required to successfully complete the training program. Reservations are appreciated and can be made by calling the CASA office at 607-936-CASA.
